Goth Fairy!

Here's something a bit different for me...a knitted Goth Fairy!

She started out as a pattern for a cutesy tooth fairy in 'Simply Knitting' magazine, but I decided to personalise her and make her a bit goth! My knitting buddy Rita was knitting one of these at the same time as me, so we were often ringing each other to check progress- though she could probably have made half a dozen of them in the time it took me to make this one!

I think it turned out really well for a first go though, and everyone seems to like her!

Saucy Knits!

Here's my latest finished item then, as shown previously in my 'progress' entry below. It's the 'Zelda' design from the 'Naughty Needles' book.

Making this didn't go smoothly- there were a couple of mistakes along the way and then when it was finished, I found that it doesn't fit me properly, arrgghh! So I couldn't have it photographed on me, as it was positively indecent- things kind of, erm, 'showed' at the top shall we say! A lady has her limits! Ah well, I'll probably unravel it now and try something else.

I've also been tatting away too, but I won't show you any progress there just yet, as it would spoil the finished effect.

We've recently got a nice garden swing seat too, so when the weather improves- or stays improved for more than five minutes at least- I'll be able to rock out in the sunshine and relax with a few rows.

Progress!

Here as promised is a progress piccie of my latest on-the-needles project. Can you tell what it is yet? No? Ah well, maybe you'll get it next time when I post some more progress!

I've decided to make more progress with my knitting this year- I'm going to try colour work, and lace knitting. I've already done circular and cables)

One project I'd like to do is a sweater, though it will have to be for me as my no one I know will wear knitwear!

I've given up on trying to knit socks for now- I just can't get past 'turning the heel', it boggles the brain! Plus, I don't find much specific sock yarn where I live.

My tatting is currently going well- I'm currently making butterflies, and lots of them, and I attend the meet ups of the local tatting group as often as I can which is nice.

Until next time, happy crafting!

Sorry!

I know, I know, I've been a bad blogger! So sorry for the long gap- what can I say, a lot of life got in the way at the start of the year- I'm sure you know how it is sometimes. Only now are things starting to settle down a little again.

So, what have I been doing craft-wise in all this time? A quick run down-

I knitted a gaiter for a friend's birthday- I enjoyed doing this, as it was my first successful circular project. I think it turned out well, and I hope it keeps my friend's neck warm!

Then I've made a scarf for a friend in Canada- the yarn made me think of blossoming flowers, which was nice.

Plus, I've made a nice little shrug for myself- it's lovely and soft, and is made from Knit Picks yarn that was sent to me last year by my friend Kaydee.

Lastly, here is a little Snow White dress I custom-made for the beautiful little two year old daughter of some great friends-

I got some yarn this week for a new knitting project, which I have now got on the needles. I promise that I'll post some pictures soon, when there's a bit more to show.

Happy Crafting!

Yes, I'm Still Alive!

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in updating things but time has gotten away from me a little lately, and then I had some issues with accessing my account on here! Anyway, I'm back now!

Here's one of my biggest pieces of crochet work to date, a small pink bag that I made for my lovely online friend Rita. I added some tatted flowers to it too, and also sewed a lining for it, so I got to use three crafts in one small project!

Autumn's Coming!

My favourite time of the year is on it's way- Autumn then Winter, when I can get all my best dark clothing out and wrap up warm in it, and not look

daft trying to be a Goth in the height of Summer anymore! So with that in mind, I've knitted myself a pair of nice deep red armwarmers, which should go nicely with all manner of my clothes- most of which seem to be black...

I've not forgotten the next tatting video, either!
